Tonight’s assignment is to add two facts about each leader. Also, to add more information tomorrow.

 

President Enrique Pena Nieto:

1.     He is a member of the institutional revolutionary party.

2.     He also served as governor of the State of Mexico.

3.     He became President after the 2012 general election.

4.     He took office on December 1, 2012.

Chancellor Angela Merkel:

1.     He is a former research scientist.

2.     She has been the Chancellor of Germany since 2005 and the leader of the Christian Democratic Union. She is the first woman to hold either position.

3.     She was the first German Chancellor, born after World War II.

4.     She was also the first post- reunification Chancellor to be raised in the former East Germany.   

President Bashar al- Assad:

1.     He has served as president since 2000.

2.     He is also the General Secretary of the Ba’ath Party and Regional Secretary of the party’s branch in Syria.

3.     He graduated from the medical of Damascus University in 1988.

4.     He worked as a physician in the army.

 President Xi Jinping:

1.     He is the General Secretary of the Communist Party of China.

2.     He is also the Chairman of the Central Military Commission.

3.     Since he holds the top offices of the party, state, and military some people refer to him as China’s paramount leader.

4.     He rose through the ranks politically in China’s coastal provinces.

Prime Minister David Cameron:

1.     He is the leader of the Conservative Party.

2.     He represents Witney as its Member of Parliament.

3.     He studied philosophy, politics, and economics.

4.     He gained a first- class honours degree in 1988

 

Monarch Elizabeth II:

1.     She is the constitutional monarch of 16 of 53 member states.

2.     She is also Head of Common wealth and Supreme Governor of the Church of England.

3.     Upon her accession on February 6, 1952, she became the head of common wealth.

4.     She also became queen regnant of seven independent commonwealth countries.

President Pranab Mukherjee:

1.     He has been President since 2012.

2.     He was also a Union Finance Minister from 2009 to 2012.

3.     He has had a political career for six decades.

4.     He got his break in politics in 1969.

President Francois Hollande:

1.     He was the First Secretary of the French Socialist Party.

2.     He also served in the National Assembly twice.

3.     He became President with the election of May 2012.

4.     He also was a governor of Tulle.

Emperor Akihito:

1.     He is the eldest son and fifth son.

2.     He acceded to the throne in 1989.

3.     He is the 125th in his line.

4.     He was raised and educated by his private tutors an attended the elementary and Secondary departments of the Peers' School.

President Vladimir Putin:

1.     He had been President of Russia since May 7, 2012.

2.     He was the Prime Minister of Russia from 1999 to 2000.

3.     He was the Prime Minister of Russia again from 2008 to 2012.

4.     He was also the chairman of United Russia.

President Dilma Rousseff:

1.     She is the first woman to hold this office.

2.     She was previously the Chief of Staff of the President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva from 2005 to 2010.

3.     She was the daughter of a Bulgarian entrepreneurs.

4.     She became a socialist during her youths.

 

President Reuven Rivlin:

1.     He has been President of Israel since 2014.

2.     He was a member of the Likud Party.

3.     He was Minister of Communications from 2001 to 2003.

4.     He is a strong supporter of minority rights.
