Today in
Human Geo we did exam review. He posted to his blog very small details about
the exam. So he went through the blog explaining the portion of the test is
worth. The multiple choice is 2/3 of the exam and the essay portion is 1/3 of
the test. He answered any questions that we had about the exam. Also, on the
blog post gave us the essay choices for the exam tom. He said there are three
essay options and that we have to do two of them. Another thing he explained
was the effect the exam grade will do to are current grade. He said it might be
a good idea to decide which essay questions we will do tonight and write out
what we would write for the exam tom to get an idea of what we should write
tom. Today, I left early during class to go get prepared for the Christmas
concert for the student body.

12-12-14 Class
Today in
Human Geo we had a Christmas Party. There were a few people who had brought in
food for the Christmas Party. I brought in chocolate chip cookies for the
party. So once we got to class and got organized we set up the food on tables
and then we could get up and hang out. For the party, we had a lot of cookies.
While we ate we also put on some Christmas music. We had are part for the first
45 minutes of class. After that, Mr. Schick went over the political geography
test with us. I got a total of 17 questions wrong. On the test, I got a 43% on
the test. So, he told the class that if we wanted to get our grade on the test
up to a possible score of 70% that we could come Monday after school to the TV
Studio and re take it. After we finished that the class was over so we packed
up the food and went to the advisory. The extra food that I brought in, I took
to advisory with me.

Today in
Human Geo we went over the quiz that we had. When we came into to class we
waited for Mr. Schick to get there. Once he came in he told us that we would be
going over the quiz today. But, before we did this Gabby made the announcement
about are Christmas party tom. Next, Mr. Schick gave back the question sheets
and the answer documents. So then he went around the room and each person read
the question and the answer. I got a total of 10 questions wrong. I got a 70%
on this quiz. When we got to a question that I got wrong, when they read the
answer I would bubble in the correct answer in red. As we always do we get to
keep the question and answer documents to help us study for exams. After we
went over that quiz he gave back the political geography test and he said that
we would go over tom.

12-10-14 Class
Today in
Human Geo we had a quiz. When we came into class we studied some while we
waited for Mr. Schick to get here. When Mr. Schick came in some people said
happy birthday to him because his birthday was yesterday. After that, Mr.
Schick gave out a cookie to everyone. Next, everyone, put their stuff away and
he handed out the scan tron sheet. He then had me move my seat since I was
really close to a lot of people. Once that happened, he handed out the question
sheet. For the most part, the test was easy. There were a few hard questions,
but I made my best guess. I think I did really well on the test. I think I got
an “A” or a very high “B”. After I turned in the test I went back to my regular
seat and did my blog for the day.

Forgot to post it. I typed it, but forgot to post it.
Today in
Human Geo we reviewed for the test. What we did to review was Mr. Schick when
through the PowerPoints for this unit. When we got to a slide with stuff that
we should know for the test, he told us that we should know this information.
Some important information for the religions is the number of adherents, the
major sections of the religion, their holy book, and their founder. One
possible question is “What is the largest religion?” The answer would be
Christianity. Another piece of important information is the types of cultural
items we talked about. The examples of cultural characteristics would be
language, religion, and ethnic heritage. Language is one of the main cultural
things you will learn from hearing what is said around you. Another piece of
important information is that Canada is a bilingual nation. French and English
are there official languages. Canada has provinces and not states.

12-5-14 Class
Today in
Human Geo we completed the Cultural Geography PowerPoint and the five major
religions PowerPoint. The five major religions are- Hinduism, Buddhism,
Judaism, Christianity, and Islam. The European Union is the Organization of Petroleum
exporting countries. One example of a political alliance is the North Atlantic
Treaty Organization (NATO). The largest religion in the world is Christianity
with 2.2 billion adherents. We call them Christians. The main places where you
would find Christians are Europe, America, and Southern Africa. The
denominations of this religion are the Catholic Church, the Eastern Orthodox
Church, Protestants, etc. The founder is Jesus Christ and this religion is an
Abrahamic origin. The holy book is the Bible, especially the New Testament. The
next largest religion is Islam because it has 1.5 billion adherents. Another
religion we talk about was Hinduism. It has a total of 1.1 billion adherents.
The next religion we studied is Buddhism. The total number of adherents is 500
million to 1.5 billion. The last religion we studied was Judaism. The total
number of adherents are 14-18 million.

12-4-14 Class
Today in
Human Geo we did a couple things. When we came into to class the first thing we
did was a fire drill because there was a school wide fire drill. So we followed
the procedures for a fire drill. After the fire drill, we went back inside. The
fire drill did not take that long. Next, Mr. Schick did a song on his guitar along
with playing it through his computer. The song was about the movie we watched
which was Slumdog Millionaire. After he did that, we continued on the Cultural
Geography unit. Today we talked about religion. Religion is one of the main
cultural things you learn while in your young years. The people in a certain
religion will refuse to get their picture taken unless they have the ting they
wear on their head. Also, we talked about the Pastafarianism
religion that was created as a joke to prove a point.
12-3-14 Class
I had typed it up, but forgot to publish it.
Today in
Human Geo we continued on the Cultural Geography Unit. One thing I learned is
that language is one of the main cultural things you would learn just from
hearing what is being said around you. Brazil is the only South American nation
that does not speak Spanish. It speaks Portuguese. Canada is a bilingual
nation. French and English are there official language they have provinces.
Another thing is that Switzerland has many languages and very little conflict
between the groups. English is the common business language in the world. Many
people learn English as there 2nd language if it is not there 1st
language. Another topic we discussed today is Ethnic Heritage. In Yugoslavia,
there were many ethnics groups combined into one nation. When strong leadership
in that country died out, the different groups fought a very bloody civil war
and now they all have separate countries. In Korea and Japan they mainly have
one ethnic group.

Today in
Human Geo we continued watching the move. Where we started today was almost to
the end of the movie. In the movie, the contestant was to the last question
until he won the whole thing. He was on a game show called “Who wants to be a
Millionaire?” Right as they got to the last question they ran out of time so
they had to wait until the next time. When the next time it came on He said the
last question and he went for it. He used his last help which was phone a
friend. The phone a friend option did not help him find the answer. So since he
did not know the answer he just made a guess. His guess though happen to be
correct. Everyone went wild and was happy for him. After the movie, we went
back to the room we usually meet in and discussed the movie.

11-24-14
Today in
Human Geo we continued to watch the movie. In the move Jamel is on a Game show
called who wants to be a Millionaire. During the show there are flashbacks to
his childhood of when he learned the answers to the questions. In Jamel’s
childhood his brother and him would get beat up a lot and had to run from a
group of men. In the game show he is doing really well and has gotten every
question right so far. He also has two out of three of the help choices he had.
In the movie, it also has Jamel trying to find his brother who is an architect.
Also, there is a group of people who are questioning Jamel because they do not
know how he is answering these questions because professors and lawyers have
not been able to answer these questions. They accuse him of cheating. At the
part of the movie that we are at, He is at the last question.

For today’s
blog, we are to list the differences between the Slums and the US cultural.
There is a big difference in the two cultures. One difference is in the way
they are treated. In the slums, they are tortured and they would be hit with
bats and other things, they would be chased, and they would be shocked. Also,
the police does not protect them, like the police in the US would do. Another
huge difference is the area where they live. Their houses are not big at all.
Also, the area around them are dirty and have a lot of trash. Another thing is
that their bathrooms was an open sewer that was right next to the river that
they bathed in, washed their clothes in, and even drink out of. Currently in
the movie, these older men are trying to catch Jamel and his friend because
they ran away. The reason they ran away is because they were doing mean things
to them.

11-20-14 Class
Today in
Human Geo we watched a movie. The movie was about the people who lived in India
who were poor and lived in bad areas. We only watched part of the movie. The
part of the movie that we watched was very sad to see. The area they lived in
was very dirty. Also, it had a ton of trash in the river and on the land.
Another thing is that their bathrooms were right next to the river that they
bathed in, washed their clothes in, and drank from. The police there were not
friendly and did not protect them. They would chase after young children. The
children would throw stuff at them when they would chase them. In addition to
that the police would torture people to get the truth out of them. They would
shock them and they would also hit them. But, instead of telling the truth they
would just start saying anything because they were tired of getting tortured.

Today in
Human Geo Mr. Schick was absent. Since he was absent, Mr. Schick posted
something to his blog. Our assignment was to look up songs that had to do with
push forces or pull forces. This assignment was extra credit, so we did not have
to do it. I decided not to do it because I could not find any songs that had
something to do with push or pull forces. The next assignment we had to do was
create a blog post with the anthem for the country we did for our project. We
had to include the lyrics (in English), what it sounded like, and how it
compared to the US. Our group had already done this assignment so we did not
have to do it today. If we had completed all those assignments we were allowed
to do other homework. So, since I was done all assignments, I got to work on
other homework.

11-17-14 Class
Today in
Human Geo we did a few things. When we came into class, Mr. Schick said that he
had not graded the essay part of the test, but that he would show us our grade
for the multiple choice section of the test. I did not do well at all on the
test. After each person saw their test grade, we started the next section. The
next section is Cultural Geography. To begin the section, he showed us a map of
the US and how the different sections of the US call a carbonated drink. Some
people call it “Pop”, some people call it “Coke” and some people call it “Soda”.
The thing that decides what a new born baby calls it depends on what they here
others call it. Cultural characteristics are parts of a group’s everyday life.
They are the ideas and themes which the group will teach to all members. These
same characteristics can also link or decide a region. Some examples of
cultural characteristics would be language, religion, and ethnic heritage.

Class Assigment
Here is the National anthem for the US:
Oh, say can you see by the dawn's early light
What so proudly we hailed at the twilight's last gleaming?
Whose broad stripes and bright stars thru the perilous fight,
O'er the ramparts we watched were so gallantly streaming?
And the rocket's red glare, the bombs bursting in air,
Gave proof through the night that our flag was still there.
Oh, say does that star-spangled banner yet wave
O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave?
On the shore, dimly seen through the mists of the deep,
Where the foe's haughty host in dread silence reposes,
What is that which the breeze, o'er the towering steep,
As it fitfully blows, half conceals, half discloses?
Now it catches the gleam of the morning's first beam,
In full glory reflected now shines in the stream:
'Tis the star-spangled banner! Oh long may it wave
O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave!
And where is that band who so vauntingly swore
That the havoc of war and the battle's confusion,
A home and a country should leave us no more!
Their blood has washed out their foul footsteps' pollution.
No refuge could save the hireling and slave
From the terror of flight, or the gloom of the grave:
And the star-spangled banner in triumph doth wave
O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave!
Oh! thus be it ever, when freemen shall stand
Between their loved home and the war's desolation!
Blest with victory and peace, may the heav'n rescued land
Praise the Power that hath made and preserved us a nation.
Then conquer we must, when our cause it is just,
And this be our motto: "In God is our trust."
And the star-spangled banner in triumph shall wave
O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave!

Today in
Human Geo we were supposed to have a quiz. We were going to have a quiz today
in Human Geo, but Mr. Schick decided to postpone the test until Thursday. The
reason he did this was because he had created a study guide to help us study
for the quiz, and he added a link to other people’s presentations to the really
good ones. Last night people e-mailed Mr. Schick telling him that they did not
have access to the presentations. So, he said that he would correct that issue
today. So, since we did not have the quiz today he let us do whatever we wanted
to for the rest of class. So, some people talked with their friends. Some
people studied. Some people studied for the test while talking with their friends.
While other people just did other things on their computers. I am glad he
postponed the test because then that gave me extra time to study.

Today in
Human Geo we did several of things. When we came into class he told us that we
had a test on Wednesday. He told us it was going to have the information on the
leaders. He also said that it would have multiple choice questions on the test.
After he explained to us what is going to be on the test, he told us that
parent conferences are on Thursday. He said, if you do badly on the test that
if our parents are conferencing with him, that he will mention the test. After
he told us all of that we just did our own thing. If we had any questions about
the test, we could ask him in class. I just did things on my computer for the
rest of class. A lot of people just did things on their laptops. Reece had a
discussion with Mr. Schick about our Government. That is what we did in class
today.

Class 11-5-14
Today in
Human Geo we started to present our country projects to the class. The first
group who went was Germany. Their government is a federal republic. A federal
republic is a federation of states with a republican form of government. Their
current leader in Germany is Chancellor Angela Merkel, this is her third term.
Also, in Germany, they also have a president. But, the president does not have
a big role in the government. They elect the president every four years. The
president can be impeached, but there is no point in impeaching the president
since they don’t have a big role. After they finished, we could ask them
questions about the country they did. Next, the people who did France did their
presentation. They shared information on the government and their leader.
France’s current leader is Francois Hollande. After they went, my group went which
did the US. The current leader is Barack Obama which is our president. We then
talked about the impeachment process. How it works is that if the House of Representatives
decides to impeach the president, then the senate tries the accused. If the
senate convicts the accused, then they are removed from office immediately. The
type of government in the US is a federal republic. After that, we gave a
little description on why we are a federal republic. When we were done, class
was over.

Today in
Human Geo we worked on our projects. We were originally supposed to present our
projects today, but Mr. Schick asked us if we would like another day to work on
our projects. We said yes. So, Mr. Schick gave us another day. So, I pulled up
our PowerPoint and added some information. I looked up the number of president
that were impeached in the US. The answer was one. The one president who got
impeached was Andrew Johnson. The reason he got impeached is because he removed
the Secretary of War without the Senate’s approval. He was impeached on February
24th, 1868. The reason there is only one president who got
impeached. That is because, if you disagree with the president’s opinions, you
can’t just impeach the president for that. A lot of people want to impeach
presidents just for disagreeing with them. Today, our group got done our project
and is ready to present.

11-1-14 Blog
Today in
Human Geo we worked on our countries project. When we came into to class we
started by reviewing the answers to the pop quiz. So, he gave back the quizzes
and we went over the answers to make sure we had the right answers. After that
he told us that we would be presenting our projects on Monday. So, if we did
not finish in class that we had to finish it this weekend. So, James and I
continued to work on our project. I was researching to find if Barack Obama had
any impeachable offenses against him. But, I was not finding any information
about that topic. Some impeachable offenses are Treason, Bribery, any High
Crimes, etc. The US is a Federal Republic. We are part democracy, but mostly republic.
The reason is because we vote on the people who represent us. Also, we vote on
bills occasionally, but most of the time the people who represent us do.

Today in
Human Geo we continued working on our project. For the Project James and I did
the US. When we came into to class we reviewed where we were in the project.
After that, we got in our groups and started working. So, I looked up
information on Barrack Obama the President for the US. His term lasts for
another two years. After that, we started thinking of ideas on how we could get
rid of the President. The first idea is impeachment. We then made slides about
the impeachment process. Some impeachable offenses are: Treason, Bribery, High
Crimes, and not enforcing the laws. When I was doing research on the
impeachment process, I found that
Barrack Obama has some impeachable offenses against him. If the House of Representatives decides to impeach the President, the Senate then tries the accused and the Senate is sworn in as jurors. If convicted by the Senate, then they are removed from office immediately and the Senate can take a second vote to determine if the President can hold a public office in the future.

Today in
Human Geo we did several of things. The first thing we did was review what we
have done with Political Geography. After that he explained an assignment we
would be doing in class. The assignment is that we will have a partner and we
would choose a country. Then, we would look up information on their leader, the
type of government, and ways to over throw the leader. He told someone to go up
to the board and have them right down the groups. My partner is James
Pennington. After, each person had a partner, he went over the assignment again.
After that, he told one person in each group to go to google drive and create a
power point presentation online. So, I did that. Next, he said once you created
the document, he told us to give it a title and invite are group members. He
also said to invite him.

Today in
Human Geo we had a pop quiz. Also, today in class we had a few shadows. Before
we started the pop quiz, the hosts introduced their shadows. Next, Mr. Schick
gave out the answer sheet and the quiz paper. I found that the quiz was quite
hard. He also had the shadows take the quiz. After everyone had completed the
quiz Mr. Schick collected the quizzes and said that we would find out what we
got in five minutes. So he picked up the answer sheets and walked out if the
room. After a few minutes he returned and he said he would ring the bell once
if you got an A. No one in our class got an A. So he called each person one by
one. I got a 67% on my quiz. Both shadows got a 48%. After each person saw
their grade we were allowed to start our blog for today.

10-23-14 Class
Today in
Human Geo the class discussed some of the information about the leaders. Each
person shared a piece of information that they found about a leader. I found 2
to 3 pieces of information for each leader. Also, after a person would share,
the class would talk about that leader a little bit more. The piece of information
that I shared was that President Enrique Pena Nieto received 38% of the votes in
the election. Another piece of information I found is that President Enrique
Pena Nieto announced his
presidential candidacy in September of 2011, four days after he left the office
of governor. He officially registered in November of 2011. Chancellor Angela Merkel earned a doctorate as a physical
chemist. She entered politics in the wake of the revolutions of 1989. Today was
a very productive class because we got a lot of work done. Also, we learned a
lot about the different leaders.
